And It's Symptoms?
For starters, let’s take a step back and talk about what COVID-19 is, and why it’s important to get tested if you are showing any symptoms, or if you have been exposed to anyone that has tested positive for this virus. By now, you likely have a general understanding about the COVID-19 virus, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. While we are still learning new information about this virus, there are a few common symptoms that accompany the virus, including:
- Coughing
- Shortness of Breath
- Difficulty Breathing
- Fever
- Chills
- Muscle Pain
- Headaches
- Sore Throat
- New Loss of Taste
- New Loss of Smell
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is best to get tested as soon as possible to help prevent any COVID-19 exposure to others you may come in contact with.

There are two main types of viral tests, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests and Antigen tests. Molecular PCR tests are the most accurate type of test, but it takes a day or longer to get the results.
Test results can be received as early as 24 hours after sample collection. Depending on how long it takes the sample to reach the laboratory, it can take a few days.
Moderate or severe COVID-19 cases should isolate through at least day 10. Severe COVID-19 cases may remain infectious beyond 10 days. Isolation can be extended for up to 20 days.
Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms.
COVID-19 symptoms can include coughing, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, headaches, sore throat, new loss of taste, or new loss of smell.
